I Can Be… a cyber security expert

This month, PixelPin’s London office was filled with the sound of excited footsteps and giggles, as eight girls from Pimlico Primary joined Georgia Steele Matthews and Kelsey McGrath to participate in, I Can Be.

I Can Be is a charity that connects London primary schools with businesses, so that young girls can have the opportunity to learn about different careers from women in those fields (they also have a similar program available for young boys).

The girls joined us to learn all about cyber security and what our Head of International Sales, Georgia Steele Matthews, does (though they didn’t need much of an education on cyber security; in one girl’s own words, “I know all the rules for the internet”). The girls then got the opportunity to try pitching themselves in own PixelPin version of Dragons’ Den!
I Can Be is a charity we at PixelPin are exceptionally proud to be a part of. Cyber security and sales leadership are fields which remain typically male dominated, and with a limited interest from young girls to join. We want to be part of ensuring that the next generation of girls can experience this industry for themselves, so that their decisions to join or pass are based on first hand experience and not stereotypes or social pressures.

And from seeing their pitches, we know that whatever these young eight girls decide to do, they will be fantastic! Thank you, Pimlico Primary, and thank you, I Can Be, for this experience.
